Description

The Ickworth is arguably the sparkling gem in the Luxury Family Hotels' crown. Once home to the Hervey family, the East Wing at Ickworth is surrounded by 1800 acres of glorious English Parkland.

Designed by an 18th century Italian who never visted the site, Ickworth was the dream of the much travelled 4th Earl of Bristol. Today, the East Wing offers a warm and welcoming place for families to enjoy.

Ickworth is a successful blend of contemporary style with the traditions of a great country house to benefit all the family. The lavish décor does not hark back to days long gone, but has been given a contemporary feel to the ground floor and some bedrooms which maintain respect for traditions of this great house.

The hotel has 27 bedrooms and you can choose to “Lord it Up” in the Marquis’s bed chamber or snuggle up in the Butler’s cosy retreat. The additional 11 apartments in the Dower House, a short distance from the main hotel, offer families spacious accommodation within its own four acres of gardens (see below for details).

Lose yourself in the rolling green Ickworth parkland or take a swim in our indoor pool. Pampering is definitely on the cards at our exclusive Aqaue Sulis Retreat.

Treats & Food
Our treats come in three packages. Fredericks restaurant offers superb food and fine wines served in the former family dining rooms. Our buzzy Mediterranean Café Inferno, located in the original kitchens, is the perfect place for your café latte and biscotti or you might like to try one of our delicious home-made pizzas.

For a complete contrast, you might like to stretch out in the Conservatory, take a plate of cucumber sandwiches with your Earl Grey tea and stop for a moment to contemplate your estate!

Children
Ickworth offers our renowned warm welcome to families. Our supervised Four Bear's Den is open from 10am - 4:45pm followed by tea at 5pm. The Den is a safe haven for babies and young children to play while their parents take a break.

For older children, Ickworth offers their own CLUB/BLU, complete with table football, table tennis and... computer games. Outside there are 101 things to do including: hotel bikes, a huge adventure playground, nature trails and swimming.

Self Catering Apartments with Hotel Facilities
Short breaks in Suffolk don’t come any finer than this. In a quiet, secluded corner of Suffolk, and sitting in four acres of its own garden, the lovely Dower House accommodates 11 exclusive suites. Each one is individually designed creating a unique feeling of space and tranquillity. Whether you're a couple, family or a group of friends, the suites make an ideal base for family breaks in Suffolk.

The Dower House is ideally located for making the most of the 1,800 acres of glorious parkland. All the suites are so luxuriously accommodating and give guests the flexibility to come and go as they please. Many feel they could live here permanently!

The Dower House is also a popular venue for parties and large family gatherings. Imagine booking the whole retreat for that special break!
